From the last quarter of the 20th century, instrumental music, especially sitar and sarod have been at the center-stage of Hindustani music at home and abroad. Stylistically, both these instruments have developed almost simultaneously and therefore have styles, repertoire and techniques that have been mutually influencing. Thus, sitar and sarod are eminently suited for a jugalbandi (duet).

An eminent sitar player and heir to the rich legacy of Etawah-Imadadkhani gharana, Shujaat Husain Khan was trained by his father, Vilayat Khan, and has an unusual style that draws from his remarkable ability to express through voice as well as the vocalised idiom of the sitar.

Tejendra Narayan Majumdar is a noted representative of the Senia Maihar school of music. Initiated into music at an early age, Tejendra was groomed under the guidance of Bahadur Khan and the legendary sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Recipient of many accolades and awards, Tejendra has performed widely across the world.
