The Kumbh Festival or Kumbh Mela is being held from 14 January to 28 April 2010. Said to be the world’s largest religious gathering, the festival is likely to cause disruption to transport, accommodation and public services where events are being held particularly in and around Haridwar. During 2004 Kumbh at Haridwar, more than 10 millions devoteed gathered at the site. Saints, priests, and yogis from all corners of India, gathered to participate in Kumbh. Haridwar is considered very holy, due to the fact that Ganga enter plains from mountains here itself. The festival is visited by the most amazing saints from all across India.

Standing babas, ash-smeared naga babas, rastafarin godmen and spiritual junkies from across the world come here to be part of the great festival.

Other facts 🙂 – A typical bollywood film plot invariably revolves around 2 brothers who get lost at the kumbh mela and find each other 25 years later when one is about to kill the other! A classic. Be there to experience many such accidents and try not to get lost. Backpacker and budget type accomodation is available at Haridwar. For more info check the official website.
